ROBERT ARZUMANYAN: THERE WERE TOO MANY MISTAKES

The head coach of our team spoke about the last match of the season.

- It was a very poor game. Even though this match was not going to decide anything for us, it was the last game of the season and we played badly.

- Was there a problem with motivation?

- I don’t think that was the decisive factor. We prepared well and understood that yesterday could have given us a chance, but it didn’t work out. Maybe we were missing something, but I don’t want to connect it to that. There were too many mistakes.

- In the second half of the season, Urartu was in the title race and also reached the Cup final. Despite having opportunities, the team failed to qualify for European competitions. Do you consider the season a failure?

- I would consider the last matches a failure. For a long time, we had not lost a game, we had scored the most goals and conceded the fewest. I would only call April and this match unsuccessful.
Something was missing, and in the end we lost the style of play that made us strong. There were different factors, and our opponents were strong as well.
Before this match, we had only lost to three teams: Pyunik, Alashkert, and Ararat-Armenia.
We should have played more successfully against the top five teams. If you fail to achieve your objective of qualifying for European competitions, you cannot call the season successful. The biggest failure was April itself.

- Will you continue your work at the club?

- At this moment, yes, I am still Urartu’s head coach.

- In which positions does Urartu need reinforcement?

- Right now, I don’t want to talk about that. You always want more players and players with high quality. But our footballers are good; thanks to them we were in leading positions and managed to maintain them. At this moment, this is not about the players they are good, it was simply an unsuccessful period.

-Did everyone from the club who deserved it get called up to the national team?

-I cannot give an assessment. Mishiev is playing his first season in the Premier League, he is young and has good qualities, and he deserves the call-up, just like those who were invited. I am not the one who should speak about those who were not called up. For me, there are many players in our team who are capable of playing for the national team.
