WINNING THE FIRST MATCH OF THE UEFA CONFERENCE LEAGUE QUALIFYING ROUND

As part of the first match of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, Urartu played away against the Estonian Kalev. The match ended in victory for our team with a score of 2-1. Edgar Movsesyan scored a double for Urartu, and Thomas Teevali scored the only goal for the opponents.

Our team did not approach the match in full strength; due to problems with visas, the Russian Urartu football players did not fly to Estonia. Thus, 17-year-old Hayk Kazaryan found himself in the starting lineup. Edgar Movsesyan, Artem Polyarus and Ayub Abu also celebrated their debut in official matches for Urartu.

From the first minutes, our team's opponent showed that advancing to the next round would not be as easy as it initially seemed. Already in the 11th minute, after a set piece, the opposing team's players opened the scoring for the match. Teevali Tristan Thomas scored. However, immediately after the missed goal, the players of our team took the initiative into their own hands and had an advantage both in possession of the ball and in the chances created. The score was equalized in the 28th minute; debutant Edgar Movsesyan opened his goal count for Urartu. Until the end of the first half, the Urartu players tried to create a few more chances, but no new goals were scored.

In the second half, bad weather conditions added to the difficulty, but basically the pattern of the first half continued. Numerous attacks led to our team's second goal. In the 77th minute, Edgar Movsesyan scored again, thereby scoring the first double. Until the end of the match, our guys played very competently, even creating several scoring chances. But there were no new goals, and our team secured victory in the first match of the confrontation.
